Taiji Information and Resources

Greetings Taiji, Qigong Practitioners,

Make-Up Policy: For Taiji, Qigong and Lion Dance Classes

  • Student should attend all the assigned class hours.
  • Students should notify the teacher ahead of time if unable to attend class.                    
  • We will work with students to identify opportunities to make up missed hours in similar classes.
  • Student is expected to pay for the assigned class if they cannot make up class. (also applicable to Lion Dance class if student is paying for classes)
  • In any event, we will not refund class fee/tuition for the missed class hours.
  • An exception to this policy occurs in summer sessions, if a class day is cancelled due to an emergency/unexpected events.
  • Notify school of absence by phone or e-mail.

    Payment Term Options:  Pay by check or cash only. Checks payable to "Monterey Bay Healing Tao".   

    For a full refund, cancellations must be made 48 hours prior to start of the class session. 

    There will be no refund for tuition/class fees after classes have begun.

Monterey Bay Healing Tao new class offerings Spring 2013!
                       
1:00pm-3:00pm Tuesdays, Feb. 5, 12, 19, 26; Mar. 5, 12 (6 sessions), at JACL,    424 Adams St., Monterey  Osher Lifelong Learning Institute class Spring 2013  - Tai Chi and Qigong for Modern Living  This six session course is an introduction to the basic theory and internal work necessary for an effective daily practice of Tai Chi and Qigong. Each session includes guided practices for learning to apply the underlying principles and gentle flowing movements of Tai Chi. Qigong warm-up exercises will be applied to stretch tendons, help open energy centers and joints and to regulate the body’s energy. The second hour will be devoted to guided meditation. As practitioners learn to clear blockages in their life-force energy, they will begin to tap into their natural powers of healing and disease prevention. This 6 session program is designed to give individual practitioners of all disciplines who are interested in improving their health, wellness and life long learning.

After Mar. 12,  1:00pm - 2:30pm, Tuesday afternoons at JACL, 424 Adams St., Monterey  Ongoing classes in Tai Chi For Health and Wellness (Sun 12 Movement Taiji for Arthritis & Tai Chi Chi Kung I) Participants receive an introduction to basic theory and internal work necessary for the effective practice of Tai Chi. Students learn to apply the most important principles of Tai Chi, including breathing, warm-up and qigong exercises to stretch tendons, help open energy centers and joints for the purpose of regulating the circulation of energy in the body. Through a short Sun Style 12 Movement Tai Chi Form, students will learn therapeutic energetics and their relevance to personal health and wellbeing.

4:00pm - 5:30pm, Tuesday afternoon, at JACL, 424 Adams St, Monterey  Traditional Chen Style Taijiquan  A dynamic system that preserves the martial aspects of self-defense, along with many noted health benefits of Taiji, Chen Family Taijiquan is characterized by a dynamic sophisticated spiral force, or "silk coiling/reeling force" generally performed in lower stances, changes in speed, rhythm, and tempo. Graceful slow, light, relaxed combined movements make it ideal to develop one's internal self-defense skills, body mechanics, and concentration. This may be applied to self-defense, or integrated to greatly enhance other forms of physical activity,and sports.

This is to inform you that the Monterey Bay Healing Tao is offering 
ongoing classes in Taiji and Qigong - starting Tuesday April 3rd, 2012.
 
For those of you having finished the 6 session Taiji/Qigong program through OLLI@CSUMB, and would like to 
continue your training, classes are now open to both returning, and/or new students. 
 
This course program offers the 2 hour value of Taiji/Qigong taught together back to back as one session, and is available 
to help familiarize, and continue your training of both in theory and application of the practices. 

Schedule remains the same:  (allow yourself ample time to arrive, park and register).
Tuesdays afternoons:  (starting Tuesday April 3rd, 2012   
Registration 1:00pm 
Qigong class, 1:30pm-2:20pm, 
short break - 2:20pm-2:30pm
Taiji Qigong - 2:30pm-3:30pm

Classes meet at the JACL building 424 Adams St., downtown Monterey.  Adjacent to the Monterey Sports Center.
Parking available on Adams St., and pay parking next door to the JACL building.  

Cost for the Taiji/Qigong program through the Monterey Bay Healing Tao is $60/4 sessions,   
and a one time registration of $25. 

Cash, or check may be made payable to 
Monterey Bay Healing Tao. 

Remember to come wearing loose fitting clothing, flat soled shoes for moving practices, and a towel or pillow for sitting meditation practices.
